At The Art Spot in Danbury, CT, we believe in inspiring young artists by focusing on creativity, skill development, and fun. Our children’s art classes are designed to nurture creativity, develop artistic skills, and provide a fun, engaging environment for all ages.

Class Offerings

We offer a wide range of children’s art classes including painting, drawing, sculpture, and mixed media. Each class is tailored to different age groups and skill levels to ensure a personalized learning experience.

MONDAYS (15 Weeks)

ALL Animals: Wild Ones & Pets

Have fun with wild beasts, and your beloved pets!  We’re going to draw them, paint them and sculpt them, learning lots of techniques to make animals look life like. We’ll experiment with realism with animal eyes, fur, paws, tails and skin textures.  An exciting class with lots to learn!

Learn to observe the way artist’s eyes do, learning proportion, perspective, light, shadow, shading, composition, line & tone AND how to draw a face!  All this will make your work spring to life ~

WEDNESDAYS (16 Weeks)

Sculpt, Collage, Printmaking

The simple definition of sculpture -turn one thing into something else! Work with Paper, Clay, Stone, Wood, as well as Monoprints and print blocks and collage, while you ignite your imagination with these mediums

Acrylic/Small Oils, Still Life & Photo

The art of acrylic painting comes to life from composition, color palette, underpainting, techniques, palette knife and brushes, on to the smallest of final details.  Masterpieces will emerge and at the end of the semester, a small oil will take shape to be hung in a place of honor on your home!

Fine Art Frolics

Ages 4-7 only….…exciting art experiences that could include drawing, acrylics, printing, watercolors, clay, collage, paper sculpture, papermaking and more. We learn about master artists and their techniques, as well as basic artists skills or international culture.

Draw in Color, and Portraits

Learn how and why color adds a whole other dimension to drawing.  You’ll use Prismacolor pencils and inks to create dramatic and interesting color art with a flair for the unusual.  We will also look at drawing skin tones in portraiture.

FRIDAYS (14 Weeks)

A Bit Of Absolutely Everything!

There’s going to be A LOT going on in this class with so much excitement and varied art!  The basic rules of art apply to so many things, wait till you experience the broad variety of mediums!

MANGA Cartooning

Learn to tag, ink, write, make storyboards, manga style, or in your own style. Character creation is yours, as you make a cartoon story and create a manga animation wheel. This is all about imagination, creativity and learning more about real cartooning.

Learn to draw really well, and take those drawings into acrylics, watercolors, pastels, color pencils pieces.  You will develop your own still life or reference while you explore the huge number of options you have in Drawing and Painting.
