Community working together to create an art installation

"It is with great pleasure that I write this letter of recommendation for artists Joanne and Bruce Hunter. They have earned my esteem for their professionalism, high level of artistic talent and creativity and their outstanding dedication to making art accessible and understandable to the public. "
- Mayor Neil M. O'Leary, Mayor of Waterbury.

Placemaking...a rebirth of an area offering public art access to people whose lives are then more enriched, more creative and more inspired.

Creative placemaking animates public and private spaces, rejuvenates structures and streetscapes, improves local business viability, economic development and public safety, and brings diverse people together to celebrate, inspire, and be inspired. There is nothing like public art to transform a place, a town, a city; it can spur a rebirth or create a meaningful visual refuge from urban chaos.

PUBLIC ART INSTALLATIONS

Joanne and Bruce Hunter have created many unique pieces of public art with communities, towns, cities and corporations, including a 900 square foot mosaic mural in Waterbury, Connecticut. This piece, Cool Waters, was the result of a collaboration of over 1,400 school children and adult volunteers from the community and corporate teams.

Working hand in hand under the direction of the artists, this group brought Joanne and Bruce’s original artwork to fruition for Waterbury. This exciting, dynamic collaboration is easily reachable for your community, city or state. The artists also create collaborative or commissioned mosaic art for libraries, hospitals, schools, corporate environments, hotels, and more.

TESTIMONIALS

"The final mural and the experience we shared as a community far exceeded our expectations. Much of this can be attributed to the artists’ exceptional communication and their depth of experience. Joanne and Bruce delivered a quality project that was on-time and on-budget."
- Candace DeFelice Fernandes, PTO Chair, Woodbury, Connecticut

"Joanne and Bruce's work the state of Connecticut, (to say nothing of New York, New Jersey and Massachusetts) has provided many of us with enlightening experiences which have not only left unique art work in place, but has left each of us knowing a little more about ourselves, our communities and how we can work together to get things done."
- Mary Daniel, Brookfield Arts Commission
